One thing that keeps painting interesting is that there are numerous ways to begin a painting. There are classical techniques of layering paint, there are pure alla-prima methods and among all of those there are ways which involve sketching in a line drawing first or simply going at it randomly or blocking in abstract sections first. With this painting I wanted to explore the different greens in the bottle and in the leaves. Above that though I wanted to focus on how I start the painting and progress to its completion. I experimented with merging drawing in the composition with just blocking in color shapes abstractly.
